Look around the demo site

The demo is a finished website for an imaginary choir. It lets you see what visitors and singers would see before you create anything of your own. This page is for someone deciding whether Choir Master CMS suits their choir.

Open the demo

On the home page at choirmastercms.com, press See a demo site, or choose Demo in the menu or the foot of the page. It opens the sample choir's public website, with its concerts, as a visitor would find it.

See what your singers would see

  1. At the foot of the demo site, choose Member Portal.
  2. On the login page, press Look around as a sample member. The page explains: "This is a demonstration site. Members normally log in with a link sent to their email; you can simply look around."

You are then in the member portal as a made-up member called Sample Member. You can read what the member portal offers on that site, including the list of other members (names and voice sections only). A member can read the portal but cannot change the choir's content, so there is nothing for you to spoil. Your visit lasts two hours; after that, press the same button again.

On a real site, members never see this button: they ask for a login link by email. See A tour of the member portal and How members log in.

What the demo does not do

  • No administrator door. The "look around" button only ever gives the member view. The admin panel of a site is for its own administrators, who sign in with a link emailed to their address.
  • The contact form is off. Nobody is there to answer it, so the demo does not offer one.
  • Everyone is made up. The members are fictitious people at example.org addresses, which receive no mail.
info

The "look around" button exists only on a demonstration site, where we have switched it on. It cannot be switched on from the admin panel, so none of your own sites will have it.
